Cataloochee in the SE corner of the Smokies is a popular place for viewing Elk which have been introduced here as an experiment.

9/26/2005 - After climbing Mt. Sterling we headed on south and checked out Cataloochee and the Elk population.

This guy wasn't thrilled that I took 3 steps from one side of the road to the other, towards him...
