The Unaka Scenic Byway is a stretch of paved and gravel road winding it's way along the mountains above Erwin TN along the TN/NC border. Beauty Spot is a bald which the A.T. goes through. Pleasant Garden and other spots offer fantastic scenic vistas and views of surrounding towns and mountains. LINK

8-14-2004 - Went to Red Fork Falls and afterwards continued on up Red Fork Road and around this loop and back out on 395. The "auto tour" is described in reverse order from the direction we were driving.

This small marker and a pull-off on the side of the road looked interesting. It led down through rhododendron on some rocks and revealed a great view.
